April Events

On Tuesday, April 2nd we will be pleased to welcome Siobhan Angus as she launches her new book, Camera Geologica: An Elemental History of Photography. This event runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Perfect Books

On Wednesday, April 3rd, Perfect Books will be at the Ottawa Art Gallery to discuss Sideways: The City Google Couldn’t Buy, by Josh O’Kane. This event will run from 5 to 7 pm.

On Sunday, April 7th Perfect Books will be at the Saw Gallery to celebrate two new books. Ellen Chang-Richardson will introduce her newest book of poetry, Blood Belies. Chuqiao Yang will launch her new volume entitled Last to the Party. Festivities begin at 5:30.O

Perfect Books will be at St. John the Evangelist Church (Elgin and Somerset) on Tuesday, April 9th to support the Ottawa Writers Festival as they welcome Jane Philpott who will speak about her new book entitled Health for All: A Doctor’s Prescription for a Healthier Canada. This event begins at 7 p.m.

Mary Lee Bragg will visit Perfect Books on Wednesday, April 10th from 7 to 8:30 p.m. to launch her new volume of poetry entitled Airplane Earth. This event runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.


Julie Paul will visit Perfect Books on Wednesday, April 17th from 7 to 8:30 p.m. to launch her new book of poetry entitled Whiny Baby. Julie will be joined by Anita Lahey with her newest volume of poetry While Supplies Last

Denise Chong will be at Library and Archives Canada on Thursday, April 18th to launch her new book entitled Out of Darkness. This is an Ottawa Writers Festival event and will be hosted by Adrian Harewood. It begins at 7:00 p.m.

Natacha Belair will be signing copies of her new book, A Stellar Purpose at Perfect Books from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on April 20th

Chris McNaught will be at Perfect Books on Sunday, April 21st from 1 to 3 p.m. to sign copies of Dun Phris

On Monday, April 22nd, we will be closed for Inventory

We are pleased to welcome Grit Laskin to Perfect Books on Wednesday, April 24th from 7 to 8:30. Grit will be launching The Stradivari Formula

On Thursday, April 25th we will welcome back Amy Tector who will be featuring her new book. Honor The Dead is the third book in the Dominion Archives Mysteries series. The event takes place at Perfect Books from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 27th is Independent Bookstore Day in Canada. All Ottawa Indies will be participating and there will be prizes and giveaways. Stay tuned for more details

When shopping on our website, go to the browsing function on the left side of your screen. Select “What’s in Store” and then select the Subject. Because we can’t promise that new orders will arrive by the 24th, this feature will help you narrow your search and confirm that we have stock in the book(s) you’re seeking.

Buying a Gift Card On Line

• Click on the “Shop” icon on the top left of this page

• When the next page opens, select “Gift Cards” from the green bar near the top of the page

• Select “Add to Cart”, the select “Go to Cart”

• In the box that says “Cost”, enter the dollar value you wish

• At this point you can personalize the card (see the box on the left)

• When finished, click on the box at the bottom of the page which will take you to a login screen

• There you can create an account or log in to your existing account

• You will then proceed to checkout where you have two options

• We can hold the card at the store for pickup OR we can mail it to the recipient you choose

• Note that you are automatically charged for shipping but we waive that if the card is being mailed locally

Thanks to all of you for supporting us throughout the past few years. After  two years of Elgin Street reconstruction and ongoing threats of Covid we continue to grow, thanks to you!
